Municipio developers are encouraged to adhere to the following standards when working on new functionality or making changes to existing code. While we may not currently achieve full compliance with all these standards, our aim is to progressively work towards a higher level of compliance.

Standard for public code

The Standard for Public Code is a set of criteria that supports public organizations in developing and maintaining software and policy together.

Under this scheme, version numbers and the way they change convey meaning about the underlying code and what has been modified from one version to the next.

Keep a changelog

Keep a changelog is a comprehensive resource for creating effective changelogs, complete with guidance on common pitfalls to steer clear of.

Conventional Commits

A specification for adding human and machine readable meaning to commit messages

PSR-12: Extended Coding Style

Like PSR-2, the intent of this specification is to reduce cognitive friction when scanning code from different authors. It does so by enumerating a shared set of rules and expectations about how to format PHP code.
